The Third Man (1949) is a British film noir directed by Carol Reed, with a screenplay by Graham Greene. Joseph Cotten plays Holly Martins, an American writer who arrives in post-war Vienna only to find that his friend Harry Lime - played by Orson Welles - has died under suspicious circumstances. The film is celebrated for its tilted camera angles, atmospheric black-and-white cinematography and Anton Karas's distinctive zither score.
