Simply Red are a British soul and pop band from Manchester, founded in 1985 by singer-songwriter Mick Hucknall. Breakthrough hits like "Holding Back the Years" and "If You Don't Know Me by Now" both topped the US charts, while *Stars* (1991) was the UK and Europe's best-selling album for two consecutive years. Every one of their studio albums has reached the UK top ten - five went to number one - and total sales now exceed 60 million records worldwide.
Simply Red released the live album *Holding Back the Years: 40 Years of Simply Red, Live in Santiago* in June 2026, featuring 22 tracks recorded during five sold-out shows at the Movistar Arena in Chile.
The concert film *Holding Back the Years: 40 Years of Simply Red, Live in Santiago* premiered on 15 May 2025 in cinemas worldwide, including hundreds of venues in the UK, Europe, Asia and the Americas.
