Wham! was a British pop duo formed in the early 1980s by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. The pair scored global hits including "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and "Last Christmas", becoming one of the defining acts of the decade before splitting in 1986. George Michael died on Christmas Day 2016. Their legacy endures: "Last Christmas" claimed the UK Christmas Number 1 in both 2023 and 2024, the first song ever to do so in consecutive years.
The documentary "WHAM! 10 Days in China" had a worldwide limited cinema release on July 28, 2026 - a film about the historic tour of the duo through communist China in 1985.
"Last Christmas" reached the second position on the American Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in December 2024, more than forty years after the original release.
To mark the fortieth anniversary of "Last Christmas", Sony Music released a special EP on December 13, 2024, featuring among others a live recording of George Michael's performance at Wembley Arena in 2006.
BBC Two and Netflix released the documentary "WHAM!: Last Christmas Unwrapped" in December 2024, featuring new interviews with Andrew Ridgeley and archive footage of George Michael.
"Last Christmas" was again at number 1 on the British official audio streaming chart for four weeks in December 2025.
