About

Philippe Elan (Lectoure, Gascogne, 1960) is a French chansonnier who has lived in Amsterdam since 1986 and is widely regarded as the foremost ambassador of the French chanson in the Netherlands. He won the Alliance Française chanson competition in 1986, made his theatre debut in 1988, and received an Edison Award in 1991 for his debut album Chansons Classiques with the Gemini Ensemble. Across fifteen albums and regular sold-out concerts at the Royal Concertgebouw, he has built a singular reputation as an interpreter of the classic French song outside France.

    Philippe Elan celebrated his 40-year anniversary with two sold-out concerts at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.

    On the occasion of his anniversary, the live album Encore! - Live at the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam was released, recorded during the sold-out concerts in July 2025.
