About

Mario Lalli is an American guitarist and bassist from the California desert, best known as a co-founder of Yawning Man and Fatso Jetson. His role in shaping the late-1980s Palm Desert scene - through generator parties and early bands like Across the River - earned him the title 'The Godfather of Desert Rock'. Beyond his core bands he has contributed to Josh Homme's Desert Sessions and collaborated with artists ranging from Queens of the Stone Age to Mark Lanegan, while documentaries such as 'Lo Sound Desert' and Dave Grohl's HBO series 'Sonic Highways' have documented his foundational influence.
