Yawning Man (US)
Yawning Man, the influential American desert/stoner rock band, plays at FLUOR. The largely instrumental music of Gary Arce and Mario Lalli has inspired generations of psychedelic rock musicians.
Gary Arce is a California desert guitarist and co-founder of Yawning Man, the band widely credited with laying the foundations of the Palm Desert scene. Alongside Mario Lalli and Alfredo Hernández, he helped pioneer the legendary generator parties in the Mojave Desert in the late 1980s, shaping what would become desert rock. His sparse, melodic and cinematic guitar style influenced a generation of bands, from Kyuss to Queens of the Stone Age. Beyond Yawning Man, he is active in the supergroup Big Scenic Nowhere and several other collaborative projects.
