Flamin' Groovies are an American rock band from San Francisco, founded in 1965 by Roy Loney and guitarist Cyril Jordan. While the rest of the Bay Area embraced psychedelia, they stuck to raw early rock and roll and British Invasion melody - a deliberate anachronism that earned them a devoted cult following. Their 1976 album "Shake Some Action", produced by Dave Edmunds, is a cornerstone of power pop and has been cited by critics including Greil Marcus as one of the most important rock recordings ever made. Widely regarded as forerunners of punk rock, the band resumed activity in 2013 after more than two decades away.
