Steve Reich 90 with Colin Currie Group
Colin Currie Group celebrates Steve Reich's 90th birthday with a special programme of his compositions at Het Concertgebouw.
Colin Currie Group is a British percussion ensemble founded in 2006 by Scottish percussionist Colin Currie, initially for a BBC Proms performance of Steve Reich's Drumming to mark the composer's 70th birthday. The group has since become the foremost interpreter of Reich's music - the composer himself called their performances "the best I've ever heard" - and has given multiple world premieres of his new works. Alongside their own Colin Currie Records label, they record for Nonesuch and perform at leading venues worldwide, from the Concertgebouw and Elbphilharmonie to Carnegie Hall.
Colin Currie Group gave the world premiere of Steve Reich's latest work In All Your Ways on 28 August 2026 at the Edinburgh International Festival.
After Edinburgh, the ensemble tours with In All Your Ways to the Concertgebouw Amsterdam (19 September), the Barbican in London, the Philharmonie de Paris and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.
On 10 April 2026, the album Steve Reich: The Sextets was released on Colin Currie Records, on the occasion of Reich's 90th birthday and the ensemble's 20th anniversary.
In March 2025, the world premiere recording of Reich's Traveler's Prayer was released on Nonesuch Records, recorded live by the ensemble at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall.
The album The Sextets was recorded in August 2025 at Kings Place in London, made possible in part by a successful Kickstarter campaign.
