Film By The Sea: The Only Living Pickpocket in New York

Every year, Podium 't Beest screens a curated selection of films from the Film By The Sea festival programme. Today's screening features The Only Living Pickpocket in New York - the latest film by director, actor and writer Noah Segan.

In the 1980s, pickpocket Harry Lehman (John Turturro) was fast, skilled and charming. But New York has changed: the analogue city of Harry's best years is now a digital highway where nobody carries cash, phones are easily traced and credit cards are blocked in no time. When Harry steals a USB stick from a young man during one of his missions and sells it on, it turns out to be a fatal mistake: the boy comes from a criminal family that doesn't shy away from violence. Harry travels across New York and the surrounding neighbourhoods searching for the stick.

The cast includes Steve Buscemi, Giancarlo Esposito (known as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad) and John Turturro as the titular only living pickpocket of New York. The film is a nostalgic crime film by Noah Segan, also known for Blood Relatives.
