Mirjam van Dam

In Five Stars, Mirjam van Dam performs the repertoire of Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Carole King, Janis Ian and Amy Winehouse - five pop heroines whose music, lyrics, humour, fighting spirit, drama and Jewish heritage have influenced the world.

The programme is also a deliberate tribute: at a time when antisemitism is openly resurfacing, Mirjam wants to show how much Jewish artists have contributed to music.

For the first time, she plays piano herself (occasionally). She is accompanied by Bas Mulder on guitar and Mark Haanstra on bass. Together they already have three stars - the last two still need to be earned.
