Robbert Fossen Band

Robbert Fossen is a familiar face in Haarlem. As an enthusiast, he helped with initiatives like Botermarkt Blues and the early editions of Haarlemse Blues Club in 2006, then located at the Sound on Lange Boogaardstraat.

He is now an award-winning singer and the only Dutch musician to reach the final of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. His band has had changing lineups since 2006. The steady rhythmic foundation comes from bassist Jan Markus and award-winning drummer Eduard Nijenhuis. Keyboardist Ivan Schilder and roots guitarist Richard van Bergen complete the current lineup.

Fossen draws inspiration from the big-city blues of Chicago in the 1970s and 1980s, but his rich, dark brown voice reaches further - this is also reflected in the repertoire. The programme traces the hotspots of American music history, from Chicago to Memphis.
