HarmonEast Ensemble
In "Echoes of the Court", the HarmonEast Ensemble brings together works from Western classical music and Ottoman court music - two traditions that have influenced each other across the centuries. The focus is on encounter, exchange and recognition.
Between the musical pieces, the musicians provide short stories and explanations, so that the context of the works becomes audible and understandable. The programme features compositions by Henry Purcell, Jean-Baptiste Lully, Hammamizade Ismail, Dede Efendi, Callisto Guatelli, Kevser Hanım, Şerif Muhittin Targan and Ulvi Cemal Erkin.
The ensemble consists of internationally trained musicians and a historian:
Julia Tavit - piano
Şükrü Kirtiş - ney (Turkish reed flute)
Beste Yıldız - cello
Wilker Paredes - viola
Veysel Dzhesur - percussion
Osman Ciner - historian / presentation
