Children's Neighbourhood Workshop: Catch the Light! — Dokhuis, Rotterdam

In this workshop, children experiment with light, colour, shadow and reflection. Using transparent paper, old CDs and fishing line, they create their own light catchers - and discover what happens when light shines through colours, reflects off a CD or moves through space. The workshop is led by Rachel de Waal, an artist and art educator in training with a background in graphic design and autonomous art.

Participation is free, but registration is required. You can also buy a donation ticket to support the Dokhuis and help keep other events free. Note: register your child for each session separately using the registration links on the programme page.

The workshops are accessible to children with different language backgrounds and levels. Simple, clear language is used, everything is demonstrated step by step and translated where needed. Parents are warmly welcome to participate actively.

About the Children's Neighbourhood Workshop
The Children's Neighbourhood Workshop is an art programme at the Dokhuis for primary school-age children (4-12 years), built around the theme of your neighbourhood. During the weekly workshops, art is used to bring children into contact with their neighbourhood in a sensory and creative way - nature, buildings, people and other creatures. The programme works with monthly themes; October focuses on transition, with the following sessions:

- 7 October - Making city animal masks
- 14 October - Catch the light!
- 28 October - Nature diary
