Good Golly Miss

Good Golly Miss is a musical journey through the world of Joyce's Ulysses, with Molly's famous stream of consciousness as the starting point - her fantasies, her lovers, situated in Dublin and Trieste in 1904. Boundaries blur: genders flow into one another to create a musical portrait of a being full of contradictions, peculiarities, hope and love.

Frances-Marie Uitti plays her aluminium cello from the 1920s and her electronic cello, The Beast. Rolf Wallin handles composition and electronics.

Uitti is a former Splendor Resident and developed an extensive technique in which she uses two bows simultaneously in one hand to play three- and four-part chords, while her left hand remains free to modulate those chords. Her work has been presented at, among others, the Venice Biennale, the Holland Festival and the Warsaw Festival. Alongside this project with Wallin, she is working on a series of new compositions with Maarten Ornstein, based on Tibetan musical scripts from the ninth century.

Rolf Wallin is regarded as one of Scandinavia's leading contemporary composers. His background ranges from jazz, avant-garde rock and early music to classical repertoire, and this is reflected in a broad oeuvre ranging from computer-assisted concert hall compositions to music theatre and installations. He has received commissions from, among others, the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra and Håkan Hardenberger, and was Official Festival Composer for the Bergen International Festival 2000. His work has been heard at the Holland Festival, MaerzMusik, Warsaw Autumn and November Muziek.
