Joey Calderazzo Trio (US)

Joey Calderazzo makes his debut at Paradox. The American pianist has been a core member of the Branford Marsalis Quartet for over two decades and appears on landmark albums including Tales from the Hudson by Michael Brecker and Music Evolution by Buckshot LeFonque. In Tilburg, he performs with his trio: bassist Orlando Le Fleming and drummer Donald Edwards.

Calderazzo draws from a wide range of influences. "I've studied Art Tatum, Chick Corea, Jelly Roll Morton, Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau, and also Glenn Gould and Brahms. I've examined all those influences closely," the pianist explains. It shows: a single solo can reference countless generations of jazz pianists, each filtered through his own sharp, powerful style.
