Police History: 400 Years of Law and Order
took place · 10 Sep 2026
Description was written before the event
In this lecture, Tony Mouw takes you through four centuries of law enforcement: from the village constable to the modern police force, with attention to riot police operations and more. Dilemmas are also addressed - what is discretionary authority, when do you issue a fine or a warning, what can and cannot the police do, and what exactly does an official instruction entail?
During the evening, original police handbooks, uniforms and other visual material will be shown.
