Vincent Kusters and Roger Braun - Dichterliebe (Robert Schumann)

Baritone Vincent Kusters returns to the theatre this year for two performances; this concert features Dichterliebe, Robert Schumann's song cycle, with pianist Roger Braun as accompanist.

Dichterliebe comprises sixteen romantic songs that Schumann composed in 1840 to poems by Heinrich Heine from his collection Lyrisches Intermezzo. Nature, solitude, and his love for Clara were his principal sources of inspiration.

Vincent Kusters is a sought-after concert and art-song singer with a particular affinity for the Romantic lied, especially Schubert. He has received multiple national and international awards for his song interpretations. Roger Braun is regarded as one of the Netherlands' leading art-song accompanists. He won the Eduard Flipse Competition in Rotterdam, the Internationale Paula Lindberg-Salomon Wettbewerb in Berlin, and the Wigmore Hall International Song Competition in London. He also teaches Liedgestaltung for singers and pianists at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.
