Krallice

If you think metal is just noise, you haven't heard Krallice yet. These New Yorkers play black metal at a technical level few bands can match: complex chord progressions, unexpected turns, and influences from dozens of other genres.

After the acclaimed Years Past Matter (2012), the band members decided they'd exhausted black metal and began experimenting with technical death metal, dark ambient, post-metal, jazz, and electronics. This eventually led to Inorganic Rites, a synth-heavy album that prompted reviewer Anthony Fantano to break out his famous yellow shirt.

Also striking: in the twenty years they've existed, they've released 16 albums - not counting EPs and split albums. Yet they've only played a handful of times in Europe. Their Roadburn show last April was called 'a highlight in the festival's history' by Robert van Gijsel in De Volkskrant.
