One Love: Curated by DJ Wooldrik - An Evening of Stories, Memories & the Flavours That Built BIRD

DJ Wooldrik is not someone who worked at BIRD - he is someone who helped shape BIRD. In the early years, when the place was still being built, he stood behind the stove of a second-hand kitchen and turned every service into its own adventure.

His approach was anything but conventional. He built wood-fired ovens with his own hands, experimented with fire and smoke, and saw opportunities where others saw problems. Even his self-built still - with which he produced moonshine until customs seized it - has since become a fixed part of BIRD folklore.

For this evening, DJ returns to where it all began. He puts together a special menu drawn from the dishes and flavours of those early years. Writer and music lover Wilfried de Jong - friend of both BIRD and Derk Jan - provides the musical accompaniment with a personal vinyl selection. Wilfried has previously written about DJ and his unconventional approach to cooking and living.
