Daan Hofman

With 'Mijn Zee', Daan Hofman returns as a singer and songwriter. The songs are based on poems and texts about the sea from various European countries, translated and adapted by author Marco Kunst. Hofman has crafted distinctive indie pop from these, populated by wild waves, misty islands, glimmering pearls and tinned sardines - poems by Brontë and Rilke come alive again on waves of light psychedelic pop.

Hofman has performed his songs for years in theatres, living rooms, clubs and poetry festivals throughout the Netherlands. He opened for André Manuel, Raymond van het Groenewoud and Ramses Shaffy, and released the albums 'Fakkels van Suiker' (2008) and 'Frederic & de Katoenvelden' (2013), where pop, chanson and Dutch lyrics converge. In recent years he has worked primarily as a composer for film, theatre and documentary.

'Mijn Zee' is an ode to the sea as a place of adventure, longing, wonder and imagination.
