The Zuiderzeemuseum in Enkhuizen is dedicated to life around the former Zuiderzee, the inland sea closed off by the Afsluitdijk in 1932. Its open-air section recreates a historic fishing village with original buildings, craftspeople at work and traditional boats. The indoor museum holds permanent and temporary collections on shipping, fishing and regional folk culture.
