Ede Staal Music Festival
Ede Staal Muziekfestival, Leens · free entry
On Saturday, 19 September, the Ede Staal Music Festival takes place in Leens for the fourth time. The festival was first held on 17 September 2016, in the thirtieth year after Ede Staal's death. This edition falls in his fortieth year after death.
During the three previous editions, well-known and lesser-known artists performed the music of Ede Staal for enthusiasts from across the country - including Erwin De Vries, Jan Henk de Groot, Wia Buze, Roon Staal, Stroatklinkers, Steernvanger, Given Horse (with Tiktok Tammo) and Marlene Bakker, alongside local artists such as Arnold Veeman, Wilhelmina Leens, various sea shanty choirs and soloists. Each edition attracted more than 2,500 visitors.
Performances are spread across multiple venues: the Petruskerk, the Library, Het Zonnehuis, Borg Verhildersum and the music temple. The evening programme in the sports hall is cancelled this year; instead, the programme at the music temple has been expanded. All performances are free to attend. A dining area has been set up again at the music temple.
