Death Valley Girls describe their own music as "California Doom Boogie" - dark, energetic garage pop with a psychotic edge. The Los Angeles quartet has a pronounced passion for B-movies and occult film classics, which shines through in their sneering rock. Think a mix of The Cramps, the icy vocals of X-Ray Spex and a dash of James Chance chaos, with frontwoman Bonny Bloomgarden at the centre.
Their records are released on Suicide Squeeze. Their new album is called Welcome to Earth and comes out on 9 October. The band previously received notable support from Iggy Pop, who in the music video for the single Disaster (Is What We're After) hums while eating a burger and closes with the words: "I'm Iggy Pop and I'm eating a burger listening to the Death Valley Girls."
Support comes from Bella & the Bizarre, a Berlin-based band around Bella Khan - daughter of King Khan. Their records are released on In The Red Records.
