The Voice of Dordt

From 8 to 11 October, Muziekpodium DJS transforms into an intimate theatre for "The Voice of Dordt", a new musical theatre spectacle by the Dordt Zuigkwintet.

At the heart of the show lies the question: who is the true Voice of Dordt - the Dordtse diva Bobby Kween or the opportunistic politician Albert-Henk van Schapendrift? Theatre critic Thierry de Bakker takes the initiative to form a programme council to save The Dordtse Omroep (DDO) from collapse - the financial problems are severe. Alongside Thierry, singer Bobby Kween, politician Albert-Henk and mourning clown August de Gene sit on the council. Meanwhile, the spirit of Dordt poet Kees Buddingh' haunts the piece: he lives on in the mind of his great admirer Thierry and watches all developments from his own world.

The underlying question is whether culture in Dordt has a future, or whether the populism of politicians like Albert-Henk will prevail.
