Description was written before the event

Jacques Demy chose a radical approach for Les Parapluies de Cherbourg: no spoken dialogue, but every line sung to music by Michel Legrand. The result is a fully composed film that is simultaneously a sober and moving love story.

The narrative centres on young Geneviève, who helps her mother run her umbrella shop.
