Tom Neven & the Side Effect

Brabant-based singer-songwriter Tom Neven and his friends from the Side Effect create minimalist music with a personal touch.

Both press and audiences praised his debut album 'Closer' from 2016, which led to performances across the country - including the Naked Song festival and a TV appearance on VPRO's Vrije Geluiden. In March 2024, the band presented their follow-up album 'Soon' in a sold-out hall at the Chassé Theater in Breda. The album features ten songs influenced by folk, Americana and classical music, drawing from personal stories - sometimes intimate and understated, sometimes tinged with melancholy.

During the performance, the band plays tracks from both 'Soon' and 'Closer'. Tom connects the songs with humorous stories, giving the shows an intimate character. The line-up consists of Tom Neven (guitar, vocals), Marie de Thouars (violin, vocals), Robbert van Elewout (ukulele, vocals) and Rob Couweleers (bass guitar).
