Émile Parisien Floating Quartet — Paradox, Tilburg

French saxophonist Émile Parisien is regarded as a top performer on the soprano saxophone in France. He is known for his virtuosity, originality and sense of humour - and his concerts are characterized by surprises and compelling intensity. For his latest project Floating, he comes to Paradox with a strong ensemble: bassist Linda May Han Oh, pianist Yaron Herman and tabla player Prabhu Edouard.

Parisien has previously collaborated with Theo Croker, Wynton Marsalis, Nasheet Waits and Michael Wollny, among others. Floating too is a collaboration between international top musicians. Grammy-winning bassist Linda May Han Oh was described by The Wall Street Journal as 'one of the most dynamic rising stars in jazz today' and has played with Pat Metheny, Vijay Iyer, Kenny Barron and Terri Lyne Carrington.

Pianist Yaron Herman draws from jazz, pop, avant-garde and classical music and has released several albums on Blue Note Records. The ensemble is completed by Prabhu Edouard on tabla - an instrument on which he has collaborated with Jordi Savall, Jeff Mills and Magic Malik.

'The French saxophonist Émile Parisien is usually known for his extreme solo displays, involving passion, virtuosity and invention, at the very least, but often a smear of humour, and the bonus visual input of his highly expressive leg-dancing.' - Downbeat
