Dordtse Cultuurnacht: ChaChaChalina

The Dordtse Cultuurnacht is an annual event where Dordrecht's arts and cultural institutions offer special programmes. On Saturday 10 October, Muziekpodium DJS hosts a performance by Latin band ChaChaChalina.

ChaChaChalina is led by vocalist and percussionist Chalina Smit and Venezuelan master percussionist Gerardo Rosales, known for his work with Maite Hontelé and the Cubop City Bigband. The band plays original repertoire blending Latin jazz, the New York salsa sound of Ray Barretto, and modern Cuban timba influences from Pedrito Martinez. The group was founded in late 2019 at the ArtEZ Conservatorium.

Line-up: Chalina Smit (lead vocals & congas), Gerardo Rosales (timbales & backing vocals), Dani Brands (piano & backing vocals), Samuel Ruiz (bass guitar & backing vocals), Yiannis Marinos (trombone & backing vocals).
