Crank Some Frank

On 20 December, Musicon celebrates Frank Zappa with four acts, each bringing their own take on his rich repertoire - from technically layered compositions to idiosyncratic humour.

Absolutely Frank is a six-piece ensemble led by guitarist and vocalist Tal Wilkins, who previously made waves with tribute band ZAPPATiKA and performed with Zappa alumni Ike Willis and Jeff Hollie at festivals like Zappanale and MOO-AH!. Alongside Wilkins are Rien van Rijn (guitar, backing vocals), Menno Gramberg (drums, backing vocals), Gerard Albertsboer (bass), Marieke Sytema (vocals, percussion) and Dimitry de Bruin (keyboards, synth).

The Arf! Cats Compendium merges The Arf! and Yo Cats, featuring Guacamole di Lindini (bass, cajon), Fred Händl (keys, vocals) and Arwin (drums). Disco Boyz - Marco Smeets and Sjon King Mobe Mobers, known from the Mosae Zappa festival in Parkstad - take the audience through Zappa's progressive work as a DJ duo. Ludiosis, finally, is a band of friends with roots at The Hague's Montessori Lyceum, performing Zappa's music specially for this occasion.
