At a Hart voor Humor try-out night, new material takes centre stage: jokes still being developed, ideas hitting the stage for the first time. Between 4 and 8 comedians test what works - and what doesn't - on their way to a full evening show. A host keeps the night together, though that doesn't always go smoothly. Every edition is different.

Whoever buys a ticket agrees to Hart voor Humor's five golden rules:

1. Humor is daring to try. Only when you say it do you know if it works. Sometimes it fails, and that's part of it.
2. Humor and satire should be free, without censorship, so freedom of expression remains.
3. The artist's opinion doesn't matter, as long as they try to make it funny. Differences create humor for us, not hate.
4. All comedians have their own perspective. They don't represent Hart voor Humor's opinion as a whole.
5. No filming or audio recording during the show. What happens on stage stays on stage.
