Pianist Wibi Soerjadi marks 45 years in music with a special concert of classical piano works, career highlights, and film scores.
Wibi Soerjadi is a Dutch concert pianist and composer of Indonesian descent, born in Leiden in 1970. He won the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels in 1992 and has since become one of the most widely followed classical pianists in the Netherlands. His playing is marked by technical brilliance and a warm, singing tone, drawing in audiences well beyond the traditional classical circuit. In 2007 he was knighted in the Royal Order of Orange Nassau.
Soerjadi concluded his WIBI55-tour with his 31st Christmas Gala at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam - the longest-running tradition of a solo artist in that hall.
As part of the WIBI55-tour, Soerjadi celebrated his 45-year jubilee as a concert pianist with performances at, among others, Musis Arnhem and De Meenthe.
Soerjadi gives a series of exclusive garden concerts at Villa Peckedam in Diepenheim, several of which are already sold out.
In an interview on NPO Radio 1, Soerjadi said that according to his own account, he has only played better as he has grown older.
