Vandenburg is the stage name of Hans Vandenburg, founder, frontman and songwriter of The Hague pop band Gruppo Sportivo. He started the band in 1976 and, as its creative engine, shaped a sound that blends new wave, power pop and deadpan humour. Across thirteen albums and hits including "Beep Beep Love", "Hey Girl" and "Disco Really Made It", Gruppo Sportivo became a fixture of Dutch pop history.
After the first half of the Stop Motion tour (16 shows), another 15 shows are planned for autumn 2026, starting in Paradiso and ending in PAARD Den Haag on 21 November.
On 10 April 2026, the biography Typisch Sportivo - Een halve eeuw Gruppo Sportivo by Leo Oldenburger was presented at P60, Amstelveen; OOR called it a 'beautiful monument to fifty years of Dutch pop'.
On 3 April 2026, the single and video Talkshow were released as a preview of the eponymous vinyl EP, which also contains a tribute to George Kooymans.
On 24 December 2025, Gruppo Sportivo released the very first official music video for 'Hey Girl', following the recording of the song for the NPO Radio 2 Top 2000.
In November 2025, Gruppo Sportivo announced the Stop Motion - The 50th Anniversary Tour: a final tour through pop venues and festivals in the anniversary year 2026.
