The Slackers
American ska and reggae band The Slackers brings high-energy live performances and catchy, hook-driven songs to Haarlem.
The Slackers are an American ska band from Manhattan, New York, active since 1991. Their sound draws on classic Jamaican ska and rocksteady, woven together with reggae, dub, soul and jazz - a deliberate contrast to the punk-driven third-wave ska of their era. Over fifteen studio albums and thousands of live shows, they have built a loyal international following; the New York Times once called them 'the Sound of New York'.
The Slackers released the new single 'My Last Star', including a dub and instrumental version, via their own Bandcamp.
The band released the double single 'What We Gonna Do Now?' / 'Pick and Choose', with socially and politically conscious lyrics.
The Slackers toured internationally throughout the year and played approximately ninety shows in 2024.
The album 'Close My Eyes' from 2003 was re-released.
The album 'Don't Let the Sunlight Fool Ya' debuted on the American Billboard charts - for the first time in the band's history.
