The Jayhawks
American country-rock band The Jayhawks performs at Doornroosje.
The Jayhawks are an American alt-country and rock band from Minneapolis, founded in 1985. Led by songwriter Gary Louris, they built their reputation on close harmonies and a sound that weaves together country, folk and rock. Albums such as 'Hollywood Town Hall' (1992) and 'Tomorrow the Green Grass' (1995) are regarded as landmarks of the Americana movement. After a hiatus from 2005 to 2009, the band has remained active and in 2026 celebrates its fortieth anniversary with the twelfth studio album 'Sanctuary Park'.
The twelfth studio album 'Sanctuary Park' will be released on August 28, 2026 via Thirty Tigers, produced by Bob Ezrin.
The band announced 'Sanctuary Park' along with the lead single 'Keeping Our Heads Above Water' and an extensive North American tour in fall 2026.
For 'Sanctuary Park' the band reunited with producer Bob Ezrin, who previously produced their album 'Smile' (2000); the recordings took place in Toronto.
The early album 'Blue Earth' (1989) was reissued on vinyl for the first time on Record Store Day 2025, including a bonus 7-inch EP with four previously unreleased vinyl tracks.
The Jayhawks performed in January 2026 at Wilco's Sky Blue Sky festival in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
