About

Samhain was an American deathrock and horror punk band from Lodi, New Jersey, formed in 1983 by Glenn Danzig immediately after his departure from the Misfits. Blending hardcore punk energy with gothic rock and occult themes, the band served as the musical bridge between the Misfits and Danzig's later heavy metal-oriented solo project. In 1987, after Rick Rubin signed the group to Def Jam, Danzig renamed the band after himself. Samhain released three studio records - Initium (1984), the Unholy Passion EP (1985) and November-Coming-Fire (1986) - and reunited sporadically for shows in 1999, 2011, 2012 and 2014.
