Rootsriders & Mo Ali
Rootsriders and Mo Ali bring two decades of Bob Marley's reggae legacy to De Oostkerk in Middelburg. Fans choose the classics in this jubilee show.
Rootsriders is a Dutch reggae band formed in 2006 to mark the 25th anniversary of Bob Marley's death, kicking off with a sold-out show at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. Since 2017 the band has been fronted by Sudanese singer Mo Ali, who reached out to the group via social media. Over the years former members have included Mitchell Brunings (now lead singer of The Wailers), Shirma Rouse and Giovanca, and the band has toured venues worldwide from New York to Istanbul and Copenhagen to Johannesburg.
Rootsriders celebrates their 20th anniversary in 2026 with a major tour through the Netherlands and abroad, asking fans which Marley songs they would like to hear.
The band released the album 'Beautiful Day Beautiful Life' with contributions from Mo Ali and Abrazamundo, and plays the songs as their own support act during the tour.
Rootsriders performed in a compact five-piece lineup at the StadsLounge in Lochem, where Marley songs and work from the new album were heard alongside other material.
The band toured under the name LEGEND35 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Bob Marley's album 'Legend'.
Rootsriders reached the final of the SBS6 program The Tribute: Battle of the Bands and performed in a sold-out Ziggo Dome.
