Pert Near Sandstone is a string band from Minneapolis, active in American roots music since 2004. They blend old-time instrumentation with contemporary songwriting and are closely associated with the Minnesota roots scene alongside Trampled By Turtles and Charlie Parr. NPR's Mountain Stage praised their 'Midwestern stamp on Appalachian sounds', and beyond their extensive touring they co-founded and continue to curate the Blue Ox Music Festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Their ninth studio album, Side by Side, came out in February 2026.
