Morgarten is a folk/black metal band from Neuchâtel, Switzerland, founded in 2005. Their name references the Battle of Morgarten (1315), and their lyrics draw on Swiss history and heroic fantasy. After the self-released debut 'Risen to Fight' (2015), they signed with Inner Wound Recordings for the concept album 'Cry of the Lost' (2021), mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth). The band has since toured extensively across Europe, sharing stages with Finntroll, Heidevolk and Wind Rose.
Morgarten is on the announced Plague Tour 2026 together with Apocalypse Orchestra and Trold, with shows in Leipzig, Würzburg, Bochum and Hamburg in September 2026.
Morgarten performed at Hellfest 2025 in Clisson, France, one of Europe's largest metal festivals.
The band played at the Mahlstrom Open Air 2025 in Holzappel, Germany.
Morgarten was on March into Valhalla in Apeldoorn, Netherlands in November 2024.
