About

Luka Bloom is an Irish folk singer-songwriter who has performed solo since the late 1980s, known for his intense acoustic guitar style and poetic, personal songwriting that weaves together folk, rock and world music. Born Kevin Barry Moore in Newbridge, County Kildare, he is the younger brother of folk singer Christy Moore. He reinvented himself under the name Luka Bloom in New York in 1987 - taking 'Luka' from a Suzanne Vega song and 'Bloom' from the protagonist of James Joyce's Ulysses - and broke through internationally with Riverside (1990). Now based in the Burren, County Clare, he has released 24 albums over a career spanning more than five decades.
