Kishi Bashi is the stage name of Japanese-American musician Kaoru Ishibashi, a Seattle-born, Berklee-trained violinist and singer-songwriter. He builds his songs live from violin loops, layered vocals and beatboxing, a technique that established him as one of indie music's most distinctive voices. His 2019 album and documentary 'Omoiyari' - exploring the wartime incarceration of Japanese Americans - earned him global recognition, while his fifth studio album 'Kantos' (2024) marks a new direction blending Brazilian jazz, 1970s funk and orchestral pop.
