Flotsam and Jetsam is an American thrash metal band from Phoenix, Arizona, formed in 1981. They are perhaps best known as the band where Metallica bassist Jason Newsted got his start, but built a solid reputation in their own right with albums like Doomsday for the Deceiver (1986). Decades on, they remain an active force in the thrash metal scene.
