Discophonic Orchestra is a 30-piece Dutch ensemble performing live disco classics from the 1970s and '80s. Founded in Eindhoven in 2014 by jazz trombonist and arranger Lex van Wel, the group draws on the orchestral richness of the Philly Sound, with 10 strings, 6 brass players, a rhythm section and 7 vocalists bringing hits by Donna Summer, the Bee Gees and Earth, Wind & Fire fully to life on stage.
Discophonic Orchestra tours through the Netherlands with the new 'Disco Inferno - Celebration Edition' show, at pop venues such as Effenaar (Eindhoven), 013 (Tilburg), Metropool (Enschede) and Muziekgieterij (Maastricht).
The orchestra celebrated its 10-year anniversary with a sold-out theater tour and released its first live album, recorded at Poppodium 013 in Tilburg.
Discophonic Orchestra released the single 'Disco Inferno' via its own label Discophonic Records.
The orchestra performed at Concertgebouw De Vereeniging in Nijmegen, with hits from ABBA, Earth, Wind & Fire and the Bee Gees, among others.
