About

Amon Amarth are a Swedish melodic death metal band from Tumba, formed in 1992. The five-piece - fronted by vocalist Johan Hegg alongside guitarists Olavi Mikkonen and Johan Söderberg, bassist Ted Lundström and drummer Jocke Wallgren - built a global following over three decades through theatrical live shows and lyrics rooted in Norse mythology. Albums such as Twilight of the Thunder God (2008) and Jomsviking (2016) rank among the highlights of a catalogue that now spans thirteen studio records. Their name is borrowed from the Sindarin word for Mount Doom in Tolkien's Middle-earth.
