About

Aap tot aap is a Dutch short film from 2025, directed by Meike Anna Schaapveld. Made in collaboration with cognitive psychologist Mariska Kret, it explores the evolutionary roots of emotions and leadership through the social behaviour of chimpanzees. The film takes the form of a letter to primatologist Frans de Waal, who died in 2024.
