About the venue
ARTIS is the oldest zoo in the Netherlands, founded in 1838 in Amsterdam's Plantage neighbourhood. Alongside its animal enclosures, the park houses an aquarium, a planetarium and Micropia - the world's first museum dedicated to micro-organisms. Its 19th-century buildings and mature tree-lined grounds give it a character quite unlike a modern zoo.
