Looking at Contemporary Art

Description was written before the event
Throughout history, artists have been inspired by women of "loose morals" - to capture their power, their beauty, or because a patron wanted to see his mistress depicted as Mary.
This lecture traces the role of "the courtesan, the concubine, the mistress, the street prostitute" through artworks and brings a number of famous women into the spotlight. It also explores what drove artists to repeatedly return to this provocative, yet complex and sensitive subject.
