Jim White Duo [US]

Jim White is a globetrotter with a turbulent past: from taxi driver in New York to minister and fashion model in Milan. His heart lies in the Southern States, whose culture and contradictions he translates into haunting, dark songs steeped in folk, country and Americana. As "The King of Country Noir", he unravels the secrets of the American South and confronts his own demons.

White was discovered in the late 1990s by David Byrne and signed to his label Luaka Bop. For his albums he collaborated with Joe Henry, Bill Frisell, Morcheeba and Aimee Mann. After his album Waffles, Triangles & Jesus (2017), he appeared in the VPRO programmes Vrije Geluiden and Buiten Spelen.

Now he returns with Nicolas Rombouts, bringing an evening of music and stories about the Divided States of America - including his eponymous song The Divided States of America.
