The Coo [UK/NL]

The Coo is an international folk duo made up of songwriters Matt Arthur and Jara Holdert. He lives in London, she in Amsterdam - they met by chance at an Amsterdam open mic, and the collaboration began immediately. Since then they have been commuting back and forth and writing together.

In 2019 they recorded their debut album Amsterdam Moon live during a concert in an Amsterdam synagogue. The album, which revolves around their meeting and the distance between them, was named 'album of the year' by label NativeDSD. Two guitars, two voices: sometimes seamlessly together, then deliberately against each other.

Their music draws on folk and pop from the sixties and seventies - think Carole King & James Taylor, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and contemporary bands like Angus & Julia Stone. In autumn 2024 a new album was released, which they are coming to present at Kleine Walhalla.
