Johnny Dynamite
Willem Twee Fabriek, 's-Hertogenbosch
Johnny Dynamite (Philadelphia, Born Losers Records) built a reputation as a sharp storyteller with his first three albums. The characters in his dream world are lucid, manic, and steeped in nostalgia: against dark, atmospheric instrumentals, his lived-in voice and lyrics sketch a picture of lost youth, hopeless romanticism, and teenage rebellion.
He blends genres and connects subcultures that normally don't touch, between glossy new wave and anthemic rock-'n-roll. The production revolves around beat-centric sound, hard drum machines, 1980s guitar riffs, and floating retro-synths - comparisons to Pet Shop Boys, INXS, and The Cure are just as apt as those to MGMT and M83.
On 13 February 2027, Johnny Dynamite plays at Willem Twee Fabriek in 's-Hertogenbosch.
