Elfie Tromp - Aai Poesje Aai Poesje (premiere)

Elfie Tromp refuses to be confined by categories, genres, or taboos. While cabaret is often dismissed as light entertainment, Tromp demonstrates that humor is anything but toothless.

Darwin described humor as a form of aggression - a tool for exerting dominance over the 'victims' of a joke. This aligns with the humor Tromp grew up with: mockery and wounding remarks, anything goes for a 'good' laugh. In her teenage years, she lost her taste for the comedians around her, and one question lingered: but what do you really laugh about?

Aai Poesje Aai Poesje is both a cabaret show and an investigation into humor and its impact. Tromp tests various claims and explores how humor can be used to become the one who laughs last.

Elfie Tromp is a theatre maker and writer, known for her feminist punk cabaret. After studying at HKU, she made her literary debut with three novels, a poetry collection, and a period as Rotterdam's poet laureate. She has previously appeared at De Parade, Oerol, Lowlands, and De Karavaan.
